Hilton Head Vacation

Oh what a great vacation we had in Hilton Head, SC. One of my co-workers, Mary, asked the boys and me to go along with them because her husband couldn't go, and we thought it would be fun to bring all the kids. So, we did! We divided the drive into 2 days going down, and stayed in a hotel, then got there Saturday. After mass on Sunday, we hit the beach where it was really, really windy. We put up a tent/umbrella thing on the beach for some relief from the heat, but unfortunately the wind had other plans. While swimming, the wind took the tent and twisted it all up so we had to throw it away. We had wonderful shrimp and scallops for supper! Yummo. Monday, the kids boogey-boarded and played in the sand for a couple of hours. We didn't even go down to the beach until around 4:30 because of the heat and stayed until it was getting dark! Wednesday evening we all went on a dolphin cruise down by the marshes and saw several dolphins swimming next to the boat. That was a fun evening. On Friday, the kids made shark tooth necklaces for their souvenirs. One morning we took a long walk in the morning, and saw lots of jellyfish washed up on the beach. They varied in size from a quarter size to a big whopping softball size. We came back with lots of oyster shells and other shells from the beach. The kids loved the beach but they also just loved going to the pool and swimming where they didn't have to worry about jellyfish or crabs, or stingrays. Some women saw stingrays the last day we were there and something got Andrew on the leg. He cried out that something bit him and it was stinging, and it left 3 dots on his leg. I guess it was a jellyfish and we sprayed vinegar water on it, but still not for sure what it was. I didn't sleep good that night b/c I was just worried about him, but it didn't bother him long, b/c he got back in later on and boogey boarded more. Outside the condos was a big pond where the kids went fishing. Adam and Claire, Mary's daughter, gave it their best shot, but it was just too hot to go fishing! We also played corn-hole, and tennis one morning. I just want to thank Mary for asking us to go because we had a really good time.
