What a difference a week makes. Saturday Apr 2 was beautiful, sunny and warm. Perfect day to plant 1500 trees!! Paul has been working with the Fish and Wildlife Conservation people to put some of our property into natural grasses and basically get it wooded to preserve the land. They brought a tree planter, and thank God Ben lives close by to come and help! This first picture you can see the rows of trees. Then Paul was driving the tractor and Ben and I were sitting in the planter, planting trees--several different kinds of oaks. The boys even came back for a while. Miranda came in the later afternoon so all 4 boys got a chance to help a little bit. It took until about 6 in the evening. Paul and Ben googled how to use the planter and according to the directions you could plant 1000 trees in about an hour! Yeah, I think Ben and Paul were close to that time, give or take about 7-8 hours. Now let's just see how many the deer trample and eat or our summer drought will take care of!
